Job Description:

Our client is a global MNC focusing on serving the combined industries of health information technologies and clinical research.  Currently, they are searching for an Senior Manager or Associate Director, Purchasing to direct purchasing initiatives either regionally or globally and across different business functions to identify opportunities from vendor expenditure and make appropriate recommendations to operating management.  Moreover, this role will ensure adherence to the company corporate purchasing policy which encourages vendor competition.


Key Responsibilities

  • Extract spend data from accounts payable or other databases and prepare spend analysis by category in various formats to highlight potential opportunities.
  • Oversee the extraction of spend files from vendors to create baselines spend for key purchasing categories.
  • Identify purchasing programs where change will impact business, develop and agree implementation plans and participate as a key member of change teams.
  • Identify and agree with key stakeholders purchasing team membership, purchasing process steps and timetable.
  • Prepare and present recommendation to management.
  • Benchmark and validate opportunities by requests for information, prepare and issue competitive requests for proposals.
  • Manage and build relationship with internal stake holders to identify purchasing opportunities and programs from business plan and assist with chain management.
  • Manage vendor relationship using agreed scorecard methodology to drive continues improvement (price, service levels, new ideas etc.).
  • Develop purchasing plans, priorities, change programs and agree and implement vendor management programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience of which five should be in supply chain management, materials management, purchasing or procurement ;or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of purchasing methodologies, principles, theories process and practices.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to identify financial issues, develop and execute mitigating actions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed influencing skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to established and maintain effective working relationship with co-workers, managers and clients.
